During pregnancy, yoga can help to support mothers-to-be, both emotionally and physically.
These classes will give expectant mothers the faith, awareness and practical tools to respond creatively and positively to the challenges of pregnancy, birthing and mothering in today's higgle piggle world.
During pregnancy, yoga CAN:
- keep the body supple without straining
- boost energy
- relieve stress and anxiety
- promote relaxation and restful sleep
- be used to relieve pain in labour and childbirth
- relieve common minor pregnancy ailments such as heartburn, swollen joints and constipation
- help expecting mummas to bond with your unborn baby through breathing and visualisation techniques.
We will work through a programme of breathing, adapted yoga postures for the pregnant body, pelvic floor exercises, stamina building and of course some deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) and bonding for you and your baby. Classes will include mantra, mudra, gentle asanas, nada yoga and pranavidya practices that will encourage you to tune into your own body.
Prenatal Yoga is now recommended to pregnant women by the medical profession as a healthy means of managing pregnancy in a holistic way.
These classes are open to women from 12 weeks of pregnancy until full term and beyond.
At the moment I am only offering 1:1 classes for prenatal yoga.
I can offer you private 90 minute 1:1 classes in the comfort of your own home from 12 weeks of your pregnancy onwards.
I bring all props; blankets, bolsters, cushions and a mat (unless you want to use one of your own).
We work to the needs of your body for as many weeks leading up to your due date as you feel happy and comfortable with.
I can also offer a pre-birth session for you and your partner as the "due date" approaches.
